Automated Spray Gun Replaces Tedious Manual Application of Paper Roll Labels For one paper mill, applying labels to their paper rolls was a time-consuming, tedious process. Looking to automate this tedious process, the mill turned to a paper machinery OEM for a solution. For the OEM, the answer turned out to be Spraying Systems Co. AA22AUH spray gun with a PLC. A photo eye triggers the PLC to operate an arm that picks up the label and places it on a ramp. The spray gun moves out and sprays a fine mist to moisten the label. The spray gun is retracted and the roll of wrapped paper rolls down the ramp and picks up the label. The AA22AUH suited this application because it is compact in size, it sprays without the use of air and delivers the fine mist necessary to moisten the label without wetting.
