Automatic Boquillas Atomizadoras de Aire Met Three Critical Specifications
Paper Mill Needed Self-Cleaning, Low Flow Nozzles with Uniform Spray Distribution
PROBLEM: A Virginia paper mill used silicon to moisturize a special paper. The process required a very low flow rate, uniform coverage across the web and a self-cleaning feature since the silicon could cause clogging problems. In addition, the nozzle had to withstand the heavy demands of around-the-clock operation.
SOLUTION: Spraying Systems Co.'s Automatic Boquillas Atomizadoras de Aire met each of these stringent requirements. The nozzles deliver between 2.4-2.7 fluid ounces/minute (.07-.08 l/min) of a fine spray. The nozzles' automatic cleaning feature reduces the need for any nozzle maintenance or downtime while at the same time provides an exceptionally uniform spray pattern.
This paper making plant investigated a number of other options including the purchase of an expensive complete system. For about one-quarter of the price, the Spraying Systems Co. Automatic Boquillas Atomizadoras de Aire with PF1650 fluid caps and a special No. 27594-01 air cap met all the specifications.
A total of 19 nozzles are mounted along the moisturizing header of the winder. The flow rate of the nozzles alternated with nine of the nozzles delivering 2.4 fluid ounces/minute (.07 l/min) and 10 nozzles delivering 2.7 fluid ounces/minute (.08 l/min) for a total flow rate of 5.1 fluid ounces/minute (.15 l/min) at 10 - 15 psi (.69 - 1.0 bar).
A similar configuration could be designed for virtually any winder. In this particular application, Spraying Systems Co. also supplied accessories completing the entire system.
