FloMax® Nozzles Improve SO2 Removal Via Sorbent Injection To improve SO2 removal levels, an electric utility augmented their system with the sorbent injection of lime slurry to interact with gas between the first and second electrostatic precipitator. Spraying Systems Co.'s FloMax nozzles spray the slurry without clogging. The slurry interacts with the gas and removes sulfur dioxide. In addition, the finely atomized drops evaporate the liquid from the lime, avoiding problems of sludge buildup. The FloMax nozzles can also be used with other sorbent materials, such as activated carbon, to remove inorganic contaminants.
